Who would be the greatest superheroes in history? Between Marvel and DC? In this list, we will bring the verdict to this question, in our opinion of course, telling a little bit of the history of each of the selected heroes.
Estamos repostando alguns posts em inglês, para alcançar novos públicos.
10. Thor
The first hero on the list, the God of Thunder, son of Odin. Thor was created in 1962 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Thor has a spectacular mythology, taking advantage of Norse legends, with new elements, with stories packed with action, showing the full extent of the power of the God of Thunder.
Thor was one of the founding members of the Avengers, appearing in the first issue of the comic in 1964, and being a protagonist in the MCU franchise, being one of the most beloved characters by fans. In theaters, Thor had not avenged until 2017, with the release of ´´Thor: Ragnarok´´ that brought a deconstruction to the character, bringing a little more humor. But without a doubt, its heyday was in ´´Infinity War´´ where Thor is enraged, seeking revenge against Thanos, perfectly adapting the character from the comics, with mixtures of humor.
9. Flash
The Flash is a hero created in 1940 by Gardner Fox and Harry Lampert, under the nickname Jay Garrick, and has been given several other identities in addition to this one, the most famous of which is Barry Allen. Flash's powers originate from a lightning accident, which made him the fastest man in the world, managing to exceed trillions of times the speed of light, reaching literally incalculable numbers.
The fastest version of the character is that of Wally West, who was able to apply the famous infinite mass punch, and be as fast as an instant teleport.
The Flash has not had any solo films so far, but his series produced by Warner, has had great success, until the last seasons, where the series became a practically amateur production, with terrible special effects and ridiculous dialogues.
The character is liked for his humor, and his great powers, being perhaps the most powerful hero of the Justice League, being able to deliver punches with the power of a white dwarf.
8. Wolverine
An anti-hero that we are going to improvise here in this list, as he is portrayed most of the time on the side of the heroes. Wolverine is a fairly recent hero, being created in 1974 by Chris Claremont, Roy Thomas, Len Wein and John Romita, in the Hulk comic book. Logan was born in Canada, already with his healing factor, and after 100 years, he was taken to be a subject for the Weapon X project, where Admantium was injected into his blood, which strengthened his bones, and brought him his claws.
Wolverine has a strong personality, being a very dense and violent character, starring in impressive scenes, such as being devoured by the Hulk, and returning tearing the hero's stomach.
Wolverine is gruff and very violent, being a very alternative character. In cinemas, the character was immortalized on the face of Hugh Jackman.
7. Capitão América
Created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby as military propaganda in 1940, Captain America was the great American symbol during World War II, being put in constant conflict against Nazis and Japanese.
Steve Rogers was a thin young man, who dreamed of becoming a soldier, and had the opportunity to be a guinea pig in an experiment, with the super soldier serum. The experiment works, and the young man becomes a super human, with all his physical factors extremely refined. Rogers becomes a leader of the American army, and destroys the enemies of the axis, but in a duel with his great enemy, Baron Zemo, the hero ends up falling into a sea of ice, being frozen for decades.
In cinemas, the hero's story is quite similar to the comics, with him being unfrozen after almost 70 years frozen, being selected to lead the Avengers in the battle against Loky. Captain America starred in the biggest arcs of the MCU, such as Civil War, Infinity War and Endgame, growing a lot in popularity through cinema.
6. Hulk
Created by legendary duo Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1962, Hulk is a monstrous and extremely powerful character that mixes elements from characters like Mr. Hide, Frankenstein and Godzilla, to found his personality.
Bruce Banner was a genius scientist, who ended up having a gamma radiation accident, turning into an uncontrollable beast whenever he gets angry or scared. All this power without control, put Hulk against the American army and even other heroes, being used many times as an object by villains, to eliminate heroes, just like Loky did in the first comic of the Avengers.
Hulk's power is absurd, having punches capable of breaking the veil of reality, and a healing factor capable of keeping him alive even after a star explodes, in addition to moving at the speed of sound.
In cinemas, Hulk never reached his full potential, and nowadays, he is a totally uncharacteristic and weakened character.
5. Homem de Ferro
In 1963, Stan Lee and Don Heck created Iron Man, to star in the 39th issue of Tales of Suspense magazine, seeking to bring a strong name to the magazine, which was very attached to predictable and superficial stories. The comics duo (with the help of Jack Kirby and Larry Lieber) bet on the creation of a character different from the standards, which despite being brilliant and kind, was quite arrogant and full of character flaws.
His story begins when Tony Stark decides to support the American army with weapons during the Vietnam War, where he ends up being hit by an explosion, which lodges several pieces of glass very close to his heart. Stark would be forced to create weapons for the country's military, but, being smarter than them, the billionaire assembles a powerful rudimentary combat suit and portable reactor, to protect his heart, finally facing his adversaries and manages to escape.
Stark has starred in several Avengers stories, and is undoubtedly the most beloved character in the MCU, largely because of the extraordinary performance of Roberto Downey Jr. The hero was the great hero of the saga of infinity, reversing the snap of Thanos, in an epic and emotional sacrifice.
4. Mulher Maravilha
The greatest heroine of all time, created by the trio of William Moulton Marston, Harry George Peter and Elizabeth Marston, in 1941, in All Star Comics #8. Diana is the princess of the island of Themysira, inhabited by the Amazons, a race of warriors. After Steve Trevor's plane crashes on the island, Diana discovers that a great war is taking place in the world of men, World War II, and decides to help. With that, Wonder Woman begins to interfere in the world of men, fighting injustice, and becoming a very important member of the Justice League, being one of the most powerful, alongside Superman and Flash.
On the small screen and the big screen, Wonder Woman was successful, with her legendary TV series in 1975, with Lynda Carter in the lead role. Later, Gal Gadot would assume the role of the heroine, starring in two films, and participating in the Justice League, as one of the leads alongside Batman.
3. Homem Aranha
Here the controversy begins hahaha. Spider-Man/Peter Parker was created in 1962 for the 15th issue of Amazing Comics. Amazing was in a big crisis, with serious risks of being cancelled, when the great Stan Lee, came up with the idea of creating a teenage hero with spider powers, something that was ridiculed by the director of the magazine, but for the lack of options, ended up being approved.
From the minds of Stan Lee and artist Steve Dikto, Spider-Man was designed to be a people's hero with everyday hardships. Another innovative thing was the figure of Peter Parker being a young man, different from traditional seasoned heroes.
Peter gained his powers through the bite of a radioactive spider, which granted him a wide range of powers, such as superhuman strength and agility, as well as web-spinning. With that, Parker decides to fight the crime of New York, facing famous villains such as the Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Lizard and others, even if it harms his personal life.
In cinemas, Spider-Man is very represented, with three very well-crafted versions, which were gathered in ´´Spider-Man: No Return Home´´, leveraging the hero once again, to the ranking of Marvel's most beloved heroes. Even in games, Miranha stands out with several quality games, such as ´´Spider Man PS4´´, but even so, I believe that the two heroes that come next are as iconic as he is, which leaves with the third position.
2. Superman
The greatest symbol in the history of superheroes, Superman was created in 1933 by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. Initially, the Man of Steel would be a villain, with powers granted through a mad scientist. However, the character quickly became a hero, and his stories were produced in small strips, which, after many refusals, ended up in the hands of National Comics (future DC), which placed the character of the duo, as the protagonist of the Action Comics magazine. in 1938, becoming one of the first heroes in comic book history.
Kar-el was born on Krypton, and was sent to Earth by his parents to save him from their planet's destruction. The Kryptonian ends up in Kansas, where he is adopted by the couple Jonathan and Martha Kent, who raise him as if he were their son, even knowing his special gifts, giving him the name Clark.
As an adult, Clark was hired by the Daily Planet, and moved to Metropolis, where he began fighting crime.
Superman broke barriers, getting a radio series in the 1940s, and in 1949, he had his first TV series. In 1978, the hero won his first solo film, which was a real milestone in the history of cinema.
Undoubtedly, the Man of Steel is the most famous hero on the planet, but his little influence in media such as games, and few outstanding comics, leave him a step behind the first place, which for me is the greatest hero in history.
1. Batman
The greatest super hero of all time. Driven by the success of Superman, National Comics (future DC) needed to create new characters to match the Man of Steel, and it was up to young designer Bob Kane to create this character. During a party, Kane met comic book artist Bill Finger, who decided to help him on this mission. The hero of the duo would be a dark and brutal night watchman, gathering traits of the vigilantes Zorro and Sombra, and the fictional assassin, the Bat. Bruce Wayne's name was created by combining the names of Scottish King Robert Bruce and English General Anthony Wayne.
The Batman had his first appearance, in May 1939, in Detective Comics #27, one of the biggest milestones in comic book history, and the following year, he received his solo magazine. During the Dark Knight comics, we were introduced to several spectacular characters such as Joker, Robin, Alfred, Riddler, Two-Face, Catwoman, Bane and many others that make up the rich universe of Batman.
Bruce Wayne lost his parents on the streets of Gotham at the age of 8, and from there, he's decided to seek revenge, vowing to bring fear into the hearts of every criminal in the city. Bruce crossed the world, training and studying to the fullest, becoming not only a master of combat, but also a genius.
Back in Gotham, Wayne adopts the Batman identity, taking advantage of his old fear of bats to instill fear in his enemies. From there, Batman would use all his resources and his days, to bring justice to Gotham, and also to the world, becoming leader of the Justice League.
In cinemas, Batman has been represented several times, with masterpieces such as ´´The Dark Knight´´ and ´´The Batman´´, some of the best hero films ever made, in addition to his various series and animated films. Batman features several of the best comics in history, such as: Killing Joke, Year One, Arkham Asylum, Dark Knight, Long Halloween, Court of Owls and more.
In games, Batman also stands out with the best games of the genre, the spectacular Arkham saga, with four successful games.
Undoubtedly, the hero of Gotham has the best stories, movies, comics and games, in addition to having a very rich universe, which only contribute to elevating the spectacular character he is, transforming him into the greatest superhero of all time.
